BECOME A COURSE HERO TUTOR!

Hi! My name is Rei and I have been a tutor at Course Hero for over a year now. In this blog, I will walk you through the steps on how to apply as a tutor at Course Hero. 


 STEP 1: Prepare three (3) documents. 

 1. VALID ID. A picture of your photo identification card issued by your government (driver’s license, passport, etc.) or college/university. Your photo identification card must contain a clear picture of your face, show your full name, and be fully visible and readable 

 2. PROOF OF EDUCATION. A list of acceptable documents for your proof of education can be found below. Make sure your full name is visible and that this full name matches the full name on your photo identification card. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE IN PDF FORM. 
  • Official college or university transcript or transcript or records showing grades for each course (strongly preferred) 
  • Official college or university grade report, grade memo, grade sheet, credit sheet, or mark sheet showing grades for each course 
  • Official college or university online transcript showing grades for each course (must show full web address or URL) 
AVOID uploading the following:
  • College or university diploma
  • Provisional certificate
  • Teacher certification with specialization
  • Training certificate or online course completion certificate
  • Resume or CV
  • Registration or enrollment certificate
  • Recommendation letters
  • Teacher certificate or teacher license without specialization
  • Blurry documents or cropped parts of documents
  • Documents that don’t include your full name
  • Documents that include someone else's information or picture
3. A SELFIE HOLDING YOUR ID NEXT TO YOUR FACE. Your entire face and your entire photo identification card must be fully visible in this picture. Taking a photo or selfie while holding your photo identification card next to your face is required.

AVOID uploading:
  • A picture of you without your face and your photo identification card fully visible and clearly readable
  • Blurred photos, photos with filters, or photos where the photo identification card is unreadable or unrecognizable

STEP 2: Start your application by creating a free tutor account. Once you have your important documents ready to upload from your computer, the next step is to create a free Course Hero tutor account which is required to apply. To do so, go to Course Hero's tutor page using this link and click the pink Apply Now button. If you don't create a free Course Hero tutor account, your tutor application will be automatically denied.

    After creating your free Course Hero tutor account, you will be asked to start your application and enter your basic information. Please be sure to use the same email address when creating your tutor account and filling out your tutor application. Failing to do so may result in your application being denied. IF YOU WANT TO EARN AN EXTRA $5 ON YOUR FIRST HELPFUL RATING, USE MY REFERAL CODE: "EGg22-4".

    You will also be required to setup SMS verification for your tutor account, as Course Hero strives to provide a high integrity platform where tutors can safely and securely share their knowledge and expertise. With this goal in mind, we require all tutors to set up SMS verification to protect their tutor account and to protect their tutor earnings.

STEP 3: Enter basic information and select tutoring subjects. After creating your free Course Hero tutor account and entering your basic information, you will be asked to select the subjects in which you want to answer questions. You may select up to 15 subjects. Please note that you may be asked to take a short quiz to test your expertise in a given subject.

If you are approved in some subjects and not approved in other subjects, you will still be able to answer questions in the subjects in which you are approved.

STEP 4: Upload your documents and submit your application. After selecting your subjects, you will then be prompted to upload the three important documents mentioned in Step 1. When uploading these documents, please be sure you have carefully followed the instructions in Step 1, as this will allow us to process your application more quickly.

Once you have finished uploading your documents, you will be able to complete and submit your application. After submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming your application was received. Please allow up to seven business days for your application to be reviewed.
